In order to ensure domestic USA holiday delivery, the following shipping deadlines are in place:
Print-on-Demand items such as tote bags, mugs, and drawstring bags need to be ordered no later than December 13, 2019. Ready-to-Ship items such as RTS Yarn and enamel pins need to be ordered no later than December 16, 2019. Items purchased after these dates cannot be guaranteed for on-time delivery for the holidays. Shipping upgrades are available at checkout, but again, there is no guarantee after these dates that the items you purchase will arrive in time for the holidays. Unfortunately, dyed-to-order yarns will not be dyed or shipped prior to the coming holidays. Likewise, shipments to destinations outside of the USA are not guaranteed for holiday delivery. Happy holidays from Tina's Toasty Toes!

Holiday shopping for crafters can be hard sometimes. Maybe you're unsure of which craft exactly your loved one does. Do they knit? Crochet? Weave? Spin? Felt? If you're not sure of the difference between a crochet hook and knitting needles, this post is for you. There are plenty of gifts for craft enthusiasts that don't actually entail the craft they do. Picking a gift like this will avoid returns after the holiday. Gifts such as project bags and enamel pins are hugely popular! Our selection of project bags includes non-craft specific bags such as the yarn heart tote bag and the yarn heart enamel pin. Both of these products show off your recipient's love of yarn without making the mistake of buying a gift for the wrong craft. If you are certain of your recipient's craft(s) of choice, that's even better. We have a full selection of craft-specific mugs, totes, and enamel pins for you to choose from. These all make terrific stocking stuffers, or you can pair them with a Tina's Toasty Toes Gift Certificate and let your recipient choose their own yarn or other notions. Our gift certificates are especially good for last minute gifts, because they can be printed out at home or sent electronically to your recipient.
You'll notice that the one thing I haven't mentioned here for your gift recipient is yarn. You're probably questioning why a yarn seller like myself wouldn't suggest that as the first thing to buy as a gift. Here's the thing: yarn is a matter of personal choice. If you know your recipient well enough to know which weight of yarn they use the most, which fiber content they like the most, and which colors they like the most, then yes, yarn will make a fabulous gift. Yarn would also make a fabulous gift if you're like me, and you give your secret Santa direct links to the items you want the most. ;-) If you don't have that level of familiarity with your gift recipient, then the best thing to do would be to stick to a knitting or crochet notion (like a tote bag) or give them a gift certificate. I want to wish all of you a very happy, healthy, and safe holiday season. Thank you for being part of the Tina's Toasty Toes family, and happy gift shopping! One of the most frequent requests I've gotten at yarn shows has been for non-superwash weight yarn that can be felted. It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to my newest base yarn: Toasty Non-Superwash Worsted.
This yarn, like all of my others, is hand-dyed in small batches. This non-superwash yarn has great drape, and there's enough in each skein to whip (or WIP!) up a hat, cowl, or fingerless mitts. Each skein has 218 fabulous yards of yarn, and weighs 100 grams. The skeins are 100% Merino Wool. Knitters and crocheters will enjoy working with this yarn as much as felters will. You can find all the colors of the rainbow on this base here. Tina will be away on business from September 6 through and including September 12. All orders placed during this time will ship on September 13.
Print -on-Demand items will ship during their normal time frames and are not affected by this delay. Please take these dates into account when placing your orders. I will be available to answer questions on social media and through email. Thank you for your patience during this time. I look forward to fulfilling your orders as soon as I get back. If you have any questions about our products, use the contact us page to get in touch! The Dyeing ProcessI often get asked what it’s like to be an indie dyer and what my process is like.
When it comes to indie-dyed yarn, so much goes into the planning process. One of the most important aspects of the hand-dyeing process is choosing the yarn base and the colors. What is a yarn base? A yarn base is the bare yarn that gets dyed. Many dyers have several bases to choose from, ranging from merino wool, to wool/nylon blends, to bamboo, silk, alpaca, cashmere, and even yak! Yarn bases also come in different weights, ranging from the very lightweight lace yarns, to fingering weight, sport weight, DK weight, worsted weight, Aran weight, and chunky or bulky yarns. The base of the yarn will affect the type of dyes needed and the processes for getting the dye to bend with the yarn. The fun really starts when it’s time to pick out dye colors. Color theory and artistic inspiration are what drive the choices dyers make when they dye their yarn. Finding colors that work well together is both challenging and fun. Every dyer has a method (or two, or three) for applying the dye to their yarn and producing skeins that are unique to their shop. The exact dye recipes are often a closely guarded secret for each indie-dyer. After the yarn is dyed and dried, it needs to be skeined up and photographed before it is listed for sale. After the yarn is purchased it needs to be safely packaged and shipped. The best part of this process for a dyer is seeing the great projects you knit, crochet, or weave with our yarns.
